I purchased the K & H warmer from PetSmart with the cover, but I’ve moved the warmer unit between different cat beds. The cover that you can get it for it is a flat mat and good for cool spaces, but for really chilly places like right in front of a drafty window — putting it under the cover of an oval or “cup” style bed will keep your kitty toasty and happy.
Not only do the warmers fit nicely under the removable cover of a cup or oval style bed, they also slide nicely into most kitty “hammocks” (the sort you can cantilever on window sills). Great for winter bird-feeder gazing!
Safety note: if your kitty “milk treads” a lot and you put the warmer directly under the cover of a cup style bed, make sure to keep your kitty’s claws trimmed. Putting the warmer unit underneath the entire cup is a waste because the heat will disperse into the surface below the bed instead of warming your kitty.
If you want to put a warmer in a cold place like a basement or garage, cement disperses the heat too easily — opt for the outdoor warmer. This one just isn’t enough in those cases. The K & H outdoor kitty warmer uses 40watts instead of 6, but keeping your kitty warm and healthy is worth it.
For indoor and “upstairs” use only, 6 watts worth of warmer pad is positively great, and it uses less electricity than a bulb-style night light.

I have two small chihuahua mix dogs and they absolutely love this bed warmer. It actually keeps them in bed and calm through the night and during stressful times when I am gone. It is warm to the touch and really heats up the bed when you use it. I would recommend using it with a bed with a liner you can unzip so you can put the warmer inside. This way, the whole bed gets cozy and your dog will stay warm and comfortable.
The amazon price is great as my local pet stores are selling these for close to $50.

My French Bulldog LOVES this bed warmer! She gets very chilly in the winter and usually sits on top of the heater vent all day. With her new bed warmer she lounges happily in bed until her ears turn bright pink from the heat. She’s in heaven!

This product is wonderful for older pets with pain issues. I bought this pet bed warmer several years ago. My cat was then 18 years old and starting to have problems with arthritis & other normal age-related problems. She loved to crawl onto my heating pad when I would get up from my chair and I knew this could not be good for her – too hot. I found this one and am really glad I did. She loves it and my vet reinforced my thinking that if heat helped my pain, it would help hers. We talked about it again just today and she asked me if I still had it and told me to keep using it. I replace it every couple of years as the heating element can cause static in the radio and non-cable hooked up TV when it’s been on a long time. This seemed to indicate a loose wire somewhere in there, making it best to replace it before there is a problem. It also keeps cat warm in the winter when she might be in a cold draft – elderly beings are always cold. Great for mothers and kittens, too!
Be sure you have the proper “container” – a pet bed you can insert it IN and CLOSE UP – putting a towel over it is NOT good. They should not be able to EVER lie on it uncovered or have access to the wire! I always put something thicker over it that the thin padding that comes with the fleece backed cover that can be purchased for this (comes with the heating element and the washable cover) and make sure there is a folded small blanket underneath it between it and the chair or bed or floor to protect the fabric or carpet.
I have mine hooked up to a GOOD UL Rated power strip on a nearby table, so I can easily turn it off by just flicking a switch, not bending down and unplugging it. Elderly pets often belong to elderly owners! I do find if it’s on and the cat’s been lying on it for a long while, I think it get’s hotter than 102° – but that’s just me. This is a great product! Your pet will love you for buying it.

My cat’s love this thing. When it arrived, I put it in one of their beds and no less than 20 minutes later one of them was sleeping on it. It is a big hit in the small feline world of my apartment. When they lay on it, it warms up, when they get up, it goes off. Doesn’t get “hot” just warm. They love it!

My dogs are older and love love love their heating pads in the winter!
…. I bought this to replace one of the two that had worn out and now the new works better than the ones I had originally bought. Now my dogs fight over who gets that bed (no joke) Very good product works very very well and I highly recommend it and hope it lasts many years!

I bought this for my 4 pound chihuahua since he is always cold. He loves it and spends most of his time in it. Now he is much more comfortable.

We have owned three of these bed warmers for over ten years and they were still working as well as when we purchased them. The only reason I purchased two new ones is strictly because of the age. They probably would have been okay for much longer, but since they are electric and if anything should malfunction, our cats could have been injured. This, I feel is unlikely after opening one of the old ones and saw how it was made.

The heated pet bed is everything it was advertised as. My cat loves it! I don’t have to turn it back on every hour or so & it isn’t too hot for him. I would recomment it to anyone who needs a heated bed for their pet.
